ACCESSIBILITY AWARENESS WEEK
The Center for Teaching & Learning is excited to host Accessibility Awareness Week for SFA faculty from March 23 through the 27, 2015.
This week-long event will offer practical information on how accessibility needs and compliance with relevant law impact the teaching and learning process. Sessions will include the following topics:
Faculty and (former) student perspective on accessibility from an SFA faculty member
Overview of the legal landscape in higher education
Common accommodations and how to prepare digital materials with universal design in mind
Optional experiential challenges
This event is made possible due to award monies from Brightspace (formerly Desire2Learn) for SFA's 2014 Desire2Excel Accessibility Award.
There will be one session each day of the week. Each session will take place at 2 p.m. in Room 220 of Steen Library.
Monday: Purchasing Accessible Instructional Materials
Tuesday: Practical Considerations for Creating Accessible Content
Wednesday: Common Accommodations and How the Office for Disability Services and the Center for Teaching & Learning Can Help
Thursday: Legal Responsibilities of Faculty in Higher Education
